Privacy
We collect as little data as possible. Here's exactly what, and why.
In short
Alcyonia collects only what's strictly necessary: just your email address, if you sign up for our emails. No account, no cookies, no ad tracking. Anonymous analytics tell us how many people visit the site, without ever knowing who you are. We never ask for or store any health data.
What your browser stores
The site remembers whether you chose day or night mode and the sessions you add to "My sessions", right in your browser. That information is never sent to us.
The tools
The sounds, guided breathing, bedtime calculator and quiz run entirely in your browser. Your answers are never sent or stored.
Our emails
If you sign up, we store only your email address, the list you chose (French, Spanish or English; on this version of the site, the English list) and the date you gave your consent. You confirm your subscription by clicking the link in a first email (double opt-in); without that click, nothing is sent.
Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. We don't track individual email opens or clicks. Your address is never sold or shared.
Addresses are stored on our own server (open-source software Listmonk), and emails are sent from our contact@alcyonia.com account. The server and the email are hosted by Hostinger. You can ask us to delete all your data at any time.
Your feedback
The small "Your feedback" form sends us your message, your rating and, if you provide it, your name. This feedback is stored on our server and read by Stéphane, who runs the site. A comment is only published on the site if you checked the consent box, and only with your first name. We never publish fake reviews. To remove a comment, write to us at contact@alcyonia.com.
Analytics
To learn which pages and sessions are useful, we measure visits with Umami, open-source software installed on our own server. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device; that's why we don't show you a cookie banner.
It counts, anonymously: pages viewed, the site you came from (a search engine, for example), your country and approximate region, your type of device and browser, how long your visit lasts and a few actions on the site (starting a session or listening to the end, signing up, sending feedback). Your IP address is used only to work out the country and is not stored afterward. We can't know who you are or follow you to other sites, and this data is never sold or shared.
The Alcyonia app (iPhone and Android)
The app requires no account and collects no personal data: no analytics, no ads, no tracking. Your settings (language, favorites, bedtime reminder, downloaded sessions, progress on your journey) stay only on your phone and are deleted if you remove the app.
To show the sessions, the app downloads the content list from alcyonia.com and the audio files from our servers and our delivery network (Bunny CDN). As with any connection, these servers see your IP address just long enough to send you the files, without linking it to anyone. Reminders and notifications are scheduled directly on your phone: you can turn them off at any time in the app's settings or your phone's settings.
Hosting
As with any website, our hosting provider receives the technical information needed to display the pages (IP address, browser type). It's used only to keep the site running smoothly and securely.
Your rights
You can ask us any question about your data, or ask to see, correct or delete it: contact@alcyonia.com.
