A sleep meditation is a 10-to-15-minute guided audio session you listen to in bed with the lights off: the voice brings your attention to your breath and body, then to a calm image, until sleep arrives. The sessions below are free, ad-free, need no sign-up, and the music fades out on its own.
A sleep meditation is something you listen to in bed with the lights off. The voice draws your attention away from the day's worries: toward your breath, toward a body that lets go, toward a calm place you picture. There's nothing to achieve, just room for sleep to arrive.
The sessions below last 10 to 20 minutes. They use well-known techniques: progressive muscle relaxation, yoga nidra, slow breathing, guided imagery and sophrology, a French relaxation method. The music fades out at the end; if you fall asleep before then, that's perfect.
Pick one for your evening: a tense body, a busy day, a hotel bed, a night that's too hot. All are free, with no sign-up and no ads.
Frequently asked questions
- How long should a sleep meditation be?
- Long enough for you to drift off, which is often less than the full session. Ours last 10 to 20 minutes and fade out on their own.
- Do I need to know how to meditate?
- No. Just lie down and listen. If your mind wanders, simply come back to the voice.
- Can a sleep meditation treat insomnia?
- No. It's a relaxation practice. If sleep problems last for several weeks, talk to a doctor.
