Sleep story: A slow story with no suspense: it occupies the mind just enough for sleep to come.

Who is this session for?

This story is for anyone looking for a deep sense of warmth and safety to help quiet a busy mind. It is especially comforting on cold nights when you want to wrap yourself in a cozy, peaceful atmosphere before drifting off to sleep.

How does it unfold?

  1. at the startA Warm CocoonYou step into the quiet workshop, listening to the steady purr of the roasting machine while snow falls outside.
  2. around 1 minThe Artisan's CraftYou follow Elias's slow, careful gestures as he scoops green beans and the room fills with the comforting, evolving scents of toast and warm cocoa.
  3. around 9 minThe Perfect RoastYou hear the crisp crack of the beans and the soothing rush as they pour into the cooling tray, marking the end of the work.
  4. around 11 minDeep Winter SilenceThe machine falls silent, leaving only the crackle of a woodstove as the artisan rests in his armchair and the snow blankets the sleeping town.

Why does it help you sleep?

The sharp contrast between the freezing snow outside and the heated workshop creates an immediate feeling of safety and comfort. By focusing your attention on rich sensory details, like the enveloping scent of cocoa and the rhythmic hum of the copper drum, your mind naturally lets go of daily worries. Following the slow, deliberate gestures of the artisan gently slows down your own breathing, preparing your body for a deeply restful night.

How to listen

Settle comfortably in your bed and keep the volume low enough to just hear the gentle sounds of the roasting machine. Let the peaceful atmosphere carry you away, and remember that it is perfectly fine if you fall asleep long before the story ends.

That night, the only sound in the old brick workshop was the deep, steady purr of the large copper drum…

It turned slowly, a rhythmic heartbeat in the quiet hours long before dawn…

Elias stood alone by his wooden workbench, bathed in the mellow pool of light from a green glass lampshade…

Outside, the snow was falling in absolute silence, isolating the coastal town in a thick, white blanket…

But inside, the air was warm, safe, and completely still…

He loved this peaceful time of night… when the rest of the world was fast asleep, and he could focus entirely on his craft…

The heavy wooden doors were shut tight against the winter cold, creating a perfect, heated cocoon…

Elias was preparing his special dawn blend… the one that would greet the town when it woke…

He reached into a rough burlap sack, his hands finding the polished handle of a wooden scoop…

He filled it with pale, green coffee beans, listening to the delicate rustling they made…

It sounded like small pebbles shifting on a calm beach…

Slowly, he poured them into the hopper, watching them disappear into the warmth of the roaring machine…

The copper drum continued its low, reassuring hum… a sound Elias knew as well as his own breathing…

He kept a watchful eye on the temperature, feeling the radiant heat opposing the freezing snow just beyond the walls…

As the minutes ticked by, the scent in the workshop began to change…

At first, it was a fresh, grassy note, like a quiet meadow warming in the spring sun…

Then, it slowly deepened into the familiar aroma of toasted bread…

Elias wiped his hands on his canvas apron, feeling a quiet satisfaction…

Stepping over to the tall, fogged window, he traced a small circle in the condensation to watch the feathery snowflakes dancing beneath a streetlamp…

He stood there for a moment, listening to the rhythmic music of the roasting machine, perfectly in tune with the deep silence of the winter night…

The scent in the room grew richer, heavier… transforming into an enveloping fragrance of warm cocoa and dark sugar…

He stepped back to the roaster, his senses sharp and attuned to the warmth…

He was waiting for one specific sound… the signal that the dawn blend was perfectly ready…

And then, it came…

A crisp, dry little crack echoed from inside the drum…

It sounded just like a tiny dry twig snapping in a cozy fireplace…

Elias smiled in the dim light… The moment was here…

With a smooth, practiced motion, he pulled down the heavy cast-iron lever…

The metal door swung open, and a beautiful cascade of shining, dark brown beans poured out into the cooling tray…

The sound was a fluid, soothing rush, like a small stream over smooth rocks…

The rich smell reached its peak, filling every corner of the old brick room with a deep, wrapping warmth…

The work for the dawn was completely finished… the perfect aroma finally achieved…

Slowly, Elias reached over and turned off the machine…

The low hum faded away, and the great silence of the winter night reclaimed the space…

The only sound left was the distant, muffled crackle of the woodstove in the corner…

Elias walked over to his worn leather armchair and sat down heavily, letting out a long, peaceful sigh…

His eyes half-closed as he rested his hands on his lap…

The round scent of the coffee floated in the heavy, mellow air…

Outside, the snow continued to fall, covering the cobblestone streets, covering the rooftops…

wrapping the whole town in a tranquil peace…

Everything is quiet… Everything is still…

The night deepens… tranquil and warm…

drifting quietly… into rest…
