Self-hypnosis: the control room: You turn down imaginary dials one by one: noise, tension, thoughts.

Who is this session for?

This session is designed for those who find it hard to disconnect from work and quiet their racing thoughts at bedtime. It is ideal for evenings when your mind feels overloaded and you need a gentle guide to leave the busy day behind.

How does it unfold?

  1. at the startPreparationThe voice introduces self-hypnosis as a natural state and reassures you that you remain completely in control.
  2. around 1 minInductionYou focus on the immediate sounds and physical sensations around you to help your eyelids become wonderfully heavy.
  3. around 3 minDeepeningYou imagine walking down a ten-step staircase, using a mental stepping-back technique to double your relaxation with every number.
  4. around 6 minThe CoreYou enter your mind's control room to manually turn down the dials of vigilance and work thoughts, before visualizing a stone sinking into a calm lake.
  5. around 10 minAnchoringA mental trigger is created so that, on future nights, taking three slow breaths on your pillow will automatically bring back this calm.
  6. around 11 minDriftingThe sentences become shorter and slowly fade away, allowing your mind to float as your body embraces sleep.

Why does it help you sleep?

Visualizing a control room gives you a tangible way to manage racing thoughts. By mentally turning down the dials of alertness and work-related stress, your brain receives a clear signal to stop processing the day. The metaphor of the sinking stone then shifts your focus toward physical heaviness, gently guiding your nervous system into deep rest.

How to listen

Listen to this recording while lying comfortably in bed, with the lights off and the volume set low. It is perfectly fine, and even expected, to drift off to sleep long before the session ends.

Welcome to this sleep hypnosis session. Self-hypnosis is a very natural state, much like being completely absorbed in a good book… You remain in total control the entire time, and there is absolutely nothing you need to achieve or get right… If you happen to fall asleep before the end, that is perfectly fine and exactly what we want…

Right now, you are lying in your bed… You can feel the mattress supporting your body… You can hear the sound of my voice… and feeling the warmth of your blanket, you can just let yourself relax completely…

You might notice three sounds around you… perhaps the faint, distant hum of the house, the soft rhythm of your own breath, or the vast quietness of the night outside… You can notice three sensations… the weight of your head on the pillow, the fabric against your skin, the gentle rise and fall of your chest… And as you focus on these things, your eyelids might start to feel wonderfully heavy… so heavy and relaxed that they simply have no desire to open anymore…

Whenever you are ready, just take a slow, deep breath in, filling your lungs entirely with calm, fresh air, and then let it out so gently… letting every last bit of tension simply dissolve and drift away into the night…

In your mind's eye, imagine a beautiful, comfortable staircase with ten steps leading down into perfect peace… I will count from ten to one, and with every number, you can drift twice as deep…

Ten… taking that first step down, feeling a wave of relaxation… Nine… stepping down again, letting go of the day… Now, just in your imagination, step back up to ten for a brief moment… and then glide all the way down to eight… drifting twice as deep into comfort…

Seven… deeper and deeper… Six… and as you breathe out, and your shoulders drop, you can drift deeper into this heavy, soothing calm…

Five… halfway down, feeling so secure… Four… three… so loose and heavy… Two… almost at the bottom now… and One… stepping off into complete tranquility…

Here, at the bottom of the stairs, you find a safe and quiet space… This is the inner control room of your day… You see a smooth, softly lit control board right in front of you, covered in dials and switches that manage your energy… On it, there is a slider marked vigilance, currently set at ten…

Reach out in your mind and slowly pull that slider down… down to eight… to five… feeling your alertness fading… down to three… two… and zero… When you slide that lever down to zero, your mind will be completely quiet…

Now find the dial for work thoughts… Slowly turn it down… from high volume to a whisper… and then click it all the way off… letting complete silence wash over you…

Finally, there is a dimmer switch for the lights in this room… Gently slide it down, watching the room turn into a soft, velvety darkness…

In this quiet dark, imagine a smooth, beautiful stone, gently dropped into a calm, warm lake… Watch it sinking slowly… down and down through the peaceful water, leaving gentle ripples on the surface as it descends into the quiet depths… And just like that stone, you are sinking deeper into sleep… letting the water embrace you, perfectly safe and perfectly relaxed…

Your body and your mind know exactly how to rest… they know how to find this deep, restorative sleep all on their own… And from now on, every night, whenever your head rests on this very pillow, and you slowly breathe out three times, this profound calm will automatically return to you, even faster and even deeper…

And it is so easy to sleep deeply now…

If you ever need to get up during the night, your full vigilance will return naturally and easily… but for now, you can just let your body sleep… Your body is already sleeping, resting heavy on the bed, while your mind floats freely…

Time can stretch out now… every single minute of this rest can feel like an hour of deep healing…

Drifting down…

Further away…

You can choose to fall asleep now, or in just a few moments…

Letting go…

So peaceful…

So deeply asleep…
