- around 9 minReturnA gentle count from one to five brings your awareness back to the room, leaving you feeling refreshed, clear, and fully present.
Why does it help you sleep?
By using the metaphor of tuning an instrument, this technique gives your mind a concrete image of balance, showing that tension just needs to be perfectly adjusted. This visualization helps slow down racing thoughts and brings your attention back to your physical center. As your breathing synchronizes with the quiet imagery, your nervous system naturally settles down. You build a mental anchor that allows you to carry this quiet readiness safely into your day.
How to listen
Find a quiet place to sit or lie down comfortably during the day, keeping the volume at a soft level. Listen to this shortly before your important event, and remember that it is perfectly fine if you happen to drift into sleep before the end.

This is a hypnosis session to help you take a moment of calm and gather your focus before an important event. Hypnosis is a natural state… much like daydreaming or being absorbed in a good book. You remain completely in control at all times, resting comfortably. You might feel deeply relaxed, or just slightly calmer, or simply enjoy resting here… and every experience is perfectly fine.
Your body is resting… the air is moving in and out… and as you settle here, you can begin to notice the world around you gently fading into the background. It is time to simply rest. Maybe you can feel the comforting weight of your body supported right now… the slight, cool touch of the air on your skin. If a sound passes outside in the distance, it is just going somewhere… and you, you have nowhere to go right now. You can hear the quiet space between my words. You can feel the calmness settling over your shoulders… and behind your closed eyelids, a soft darkness invites you to rest. Take a slow, deep breath in, letting your lungs fill completely with fresh air, and let it go smoothly as your body sinks down into a deeper state of relaxation…
As the chest rises and falls naturally, you can invite a long, slow breath in, holding it for just a second before letting the air flow out completely and peacefully…
Now, you can imagine a beautiful, safe wooden staircase… leading down to a peaceful, sunlit room. Ten… taking that first gentle step down. Feeling a wave of quiet comfort washing over you. Nine… and with every breath out, you can allow the shoulders to drop a little more… releasing the weight of the day, feeling so much lighter.
Eight… stepping down again… twice as deep into this quiet relaxation. Seven… and your arms become heavier, looser… and your mind becomes clearer and more spacious. Six… pausing for a moment on this step to feel how good it is to just let go of the outside world. Five… halfway down… and the peace grows deeper and softer with each number. Four… floating down smoothly. No effort needed at all to just be here. Three… almost there… breathing freely and easily in this quiet, inviting space. Two… stepping onto the smooth, warm floor of this tranquil place. One… arriving safely… completely at ease, perfectly grounded.
You find yourself in a quiet room filled with golden afternoon sunlight… a timeless place where beautiful wooden instruments are crafted and cared for. The air smells faintly of cedar and beeswax. On a sturdy workbench, there is a carefully carved stringed instrument… smooth to the touch, rich in warm colors. It is time to gently tune the strings… turning the small wooden pegs with quiet care. If a string is too loose, the sound is flat and empty… if it is too tight, it feels strained and might snap. It is all about finding that exact, perfect tension… that beautiful, delicate balance where the note rings true and clear. The instrument already holds the beautiful music inside. It simply needs this quiet moment to adjust and align. You can listen to the gentle sound of this story, or let your mind wander to the quietness of the sunlit room, and both are perfectly fine. As the strings find their perfect pitch… you too can find your balance… letting go of any excess tension in your chest or your mind. You can take a gentle, deep breath in to absorb this calm resonance, and release the air very slowly to let your entire body feel perfectly attuned and centered…
The wood hums with a deep, steady vibration… a quiet resonance that feels deeply grounded and secure. You can just trust yourself… knowing the right notes are already there, waiting to be played.
All the preparation, all the knowledge, and all the skills you need are already within you… just like the music waiting inside the finely tuned wood. You are ready… steady, clear, and perfectly aligned. Later, when you wish, simply taking one slow, mindful breath can help you recall this exact feeling of being tuned, centered, and ready. Whenever you need to gather your focus, you can just take a long, deep breath in, letting the air fill your chest, and exhale slowly to bring back this quiet resonance…
A simple breath to bring back this quiet resonance… before you speak, or write, or act, stepping forward with quiet confidence.
And now, it is time to slowly bring this calm energy back with you to the present moment. One… beginning to feel the solid surface beneath you again. Two… bringing a gentle, waking awareness back to your hands and your feet. Three… taking a deeper, energizing breath, feeling fresh oxygen waking up your mind and your body, bringing a renewed sense of clarity and gentle energy to your day…
Four… feeling small, comfortable movements returning to your fingers and toes, stretching gently if you like. Five… opening your eyes at your own pace… feeling refreshed, calm, and fully present, ready to continue your day with clarity and focus.
