- around 14 minGlidingReassured that you can wake if necessary, you drift as the sentences shorten and fade into the quiet rhythm of sleep.
Why does it help you sleep?
This approach helps quiet a busy mind by providing soothing, visual tasks to focus on. The technique of stepping down and briefly back up the staircase creates a wave-like effect, encouraging the body to release tension faster. By visualizing your worries locked away in a wooden box, you give your mind permission to stop analyzing. This allows your nervous system to unwind and facilitates a smooth transition into rest.
How to listen
Listen at a low volume while lying comfortably in bed, right when you are ready to sleep. There is nothing to achieve, and it is perfectly fine to drift off long before the journey ends.

Welcome to this quiet moment, just for you, as the day finally comes to a close and the evening settles in.
You are safely settled in your bed, perfectly ready to leave the busy hours behind and simply embrace the stillness of the night.
Self-hypnosis is a completely natural state, very much like being completely absorbed in a wonderful book or a beautiful piece of music, while the rest of the world simply fades into the background.
You remain in total control the entire time, choosing what to listen to and what to quietly let go of as you drift.
There is absolutely nothing you need to achieve tonight, no expectations to meet, and you might even find yourself drifting into sleep long before my voice fades away.
Sleep may arrive while I am still speaking, or much later, or perhaps not at all tonight, and in every single case, you are exactly where you need to be, enjoying this deep rest.
There is no effort to make, no task to complete, just a gentle journey to follow if you wish.
You are lying comfortably here in the dim light, feeling the soft and steady support of the mattress beneath your body, and you can hear the calm sound of my voice in this quiet room.
As you settle in, just let your breathing find its own slow and comfortable rhythm, bringing a beautiful sense of calm with every single exhale you take, allowing the chest to gently fall without any effort at all.
Perhaps you can bring your attention to your eyelids right now, noticing the subtle, delicate sensations resting there in the soft shadows.
They might begin to feel delightfully heavy, so comfortably relaxed that they simply do not want to open anymore.
It is such a pleasant sensation to just let them remain closed, trusting that comforting heaviness without ever needing to test it.
Your mind accepts this gentle weight easily, embracing the pure comfort of letting go of the visual world.
Every tiny muscle around your eyes is softening, smoothing out, as if a warm wave of relaxation has gently washed over your face, melting away any lingering tension from the day.
In a moment, we will take a slow, peaceful walk down a very safe, comfortable wooden staircase in your mind, gently counting down from ten to one.
With every single number, you can allow yourself to drift twice as deep into this wonderful relaxation, feeling more and more secure.
Ten… stepping down, feeling the solid wood beneath your feet, letting the outside world fade a little more into the distance.
Nine… moving deeper, feeling your shoulders dropping and your body growing looser and heavier with each downward step you take.
Eight… twice as deep now, breathing so peacefully in this quiet space, letting the gentle air flow completely naturally in and out of your lungs, knowing there is nowhere else to be.
Let us pause right here, taking a gentle step back up to nine, feeling a slight, floating return toward the surface, just a subtle shift in the air.
And now stepping down to eight… and smoothly down to seven… plunging twice as deeply into this soothing quiet, as the staircase wraps gently around.
Six… five… halfway down the staircase, and it feels so incredibly good to simply do nothing at all, letting gravity hold you completely.
Four… stepping back up to five for a brief, weightless moment, breathing softly in the calm shadows of the silent, comfortable staircase, feeling the cool air on your face.
Then drifting effortlessly down to four… and gracefully down to three… letting the relaxation double once again, as the silence grows thicker and softer.
Two… almost at the very bottom, surrounded by a soft, comforting stillness that wraps around your shoulders like a familiar, heavy blanket.
One… stepping off the last stair, resting completely in this deeply relaxed space, far away from the noise of the day.
Here, in this quiet, softly lit place, you might imagine a sturdy, vintage wooden box resting on a large oak table.
You can gather all the files of today, the endless conversations, the unfinished tasks, the busy thoughts that kept spinning, and simply place them inside this heavy container.
The thick lid closes with a soft, satisfying click, and a small brass key turns, keeping everything safely stored away until tomorrow.
You do not need to carry any of those heavy files tonight, your hands are completely empty and free to rest upon the bed.
Instead, you can imagine a smooth, dark stone gently slipping into a deep pool of warm, quiet water.
Watching it slowly sink down, deeper and deeper, drifting beautifully through the clear, comforting warmth, guided only by its own gentle weight.
And just like that smooth stone, you can allow yourself to sink comfortably into a much deeper sleep, completely enveloped by the pleasant, soothing temperature of the water.
Drifting down, past the light, into the deepest blue, where the water holds you effortlessly.
What felt so urgent earlier is already far behind, and tomorrow's morning is still tucked away somewhere in a distant hour, blending with the shadows that quietly stretch across the edges of what we forget to remember…
Everything is perfectly still now.
This profound rest is completely yours, whether a deep sleep takes over in the next breath, or gently waits in the shadows, or even if you simply rest here awake and peaceful.
Every choice is welcomed by the night, and there is absolutely nothing to force, nothing to figure out.
Deep down, your body already knows exactly how to rest, and your mind knows the secret paths that lead to deep, restorative sleep.
This gentle inner wisdom has always been there, quietly guiding you toward the restoration your cells deeply appreciate after a long day.
And from now on, every time your head rests upon this very pillow, and you slowly breathe out three long times, feeling the air completely leave your chest in a slow and steady stream, this profound, hypnotic calm can return to you.
It will arrive automatically and naturally, wrapping around your body like a familiar, heavy blanket, inviting you to simply let go of everything else.
If you ever need to get up during the night, you will naturally regain all of your alertness to safely do what is needed, easily and comfortably.
But for now, time can stretch out beautifully in the dark, expanding the quiet moments.
Every single minute of this gentle rest can feel like a full hour of deep, soothing calm, nourishing you completely.
Sinking deeper into the mattress.
The water is so comfortably warm.
There is absolutely nothing left to hold onto.
Just the slow rhythm of the sleeping world.
Drifting far away.
So incredibly heavy.
So deeply peaceful.
Letting it all go.
Quiet.
Sleep.
