Autogenic relaxation: Simple phrases about warmth and heaviness in the body, repeated slowly.

Who is this session for?

This session is designed for those nights when physical tension makes it hard to settle down and find rest. It is especially helpful if you feel wound up and need a comforting, sensory environment to help your body physically let go of the day's stress.

How does it unfold?

  1. at the startOpening RitualYou settle into your bed and take three slow, deep breaths to signal that the day is over.
  2. around 1 minBody InductionThe guidance encourages a natural feeling of heaviness and soothing warmth to spread through your arms and legs.
  3. around 3 minDeepeningYou imagine walking down a gentle wooden staircase, doubling your physical comfort with every step.
  4. around 4 minThe Rainy GreenhouseYou explore a warm, sheltered greenhouse where the steady sound of rain on the glass absorbs your attention and invites your muscles to melt.
  5. around 8 minReinforcementYou create a simple physical anchor, like touching your fingers together, to help you recall this exact relaxation on future nights.
  6. around 10 minDrifting OffThe pacing slows down significantly, allowing you to fade into the background sound of the rain without any pressure to fall asleep.

Why does it help you sleep?

This approach uses a technique to physically encourage your muscles to unwind by focusing on sensations of heaviness and warmth. By directing your attention toward the rich, sensory details of the greenhouse and the rhythmic sound of the rain, your mind naturally shifts away from racing thoughts. The metaphor of the resting plants gently reminds your body that relaxation requires no effort at all. Ultimately, this combination of physical release and mental soothing paves a peaceful path toward deep rest.

Everyone knows that comforting feeling when the day is finally over and you can simply rest… I invite you to settle comfortably into your bed… knowing that you remain fully in control… if anything needs your attention, you will be fully present and able to respond.

Notice how the mattress supports the weight of your whole body… holding you completely securely. Inhale slowly through your nose, allowing the air to gently fill your belly all the way down… and exhale completely, letting go.

Take another deep, slow breath in, feeling your chest expand softly with this quiet moment… and breathe out slowly, feeling a gentle warmth begin to settle in. Breathe in slowly and deeply… and release it all with a long, slow sigh.

I don't know if your arms will feel heavy first, or your legs… but your body already knows how to release this tension… without you having to do anything at all. You might notice a sense of heaviness spreading down through your arms.

And this comforting weight flows gently down into your legs… both legs sinking deeper into the mattress. As your muscles naturally let go, a soothing warmth begins to radiate inside you… warming your hands… warming the soles of your feet.

You don't need to control your breath anymore… it simply breathes you. This soft warmth gathers quietly in your belly… relaxing your core… while a pleasant, soothing coolness lightly brushes across your forehead.

When you notice your breathing slowing down all by itself, you can simply welcome it… as we begin a safe, peaceful descent. Imagine stepping onto a wide, gentle wooden staircase… heading down toward a vast, beautiful greenhouse.

With each step down, your body doubles its feeling of heaviness and comfort… descending deeper and deeper into a space that is wide open… bright enough to see the lush greens, yet deeply protective for your mind.

You step inside this beautiful greenhouse… and the air is perfectly warm against your skin, wrapping around your shoulders like a blanket. You smell the rich, damp earth and green leaves… feeling completely safe and sheltered.

Outside the glass walls, a gentle evening rain begins to fall. You hear the steady, rhythmic sound of the raindrops on the large glass panes… a continuous pattering sound that gently absorbs all your attention.

The heavier the rain falls on the glass, the lighter your breathing becomes. You watch the smooth green leaves… noticing how the plants don't have to try to relax… they simply receive… and the earth… simply… lets go… and rests.

Your body is just like those resting leaves… absorbing the pleasant warmth… releasing its hold… letting every muscle melt away into the soft surface beneath you. The sound of the rain washes softly over the glass… leaving only the quiet rhythm.

As you rest peacefully in this warm space, you might gently touch your thumb and index finger together for just a moment. This gesture… or remembering the word warmth… can bring you right back to this deep release whenever you lay down to sleep.

Night after night… your body learns to relax more quickly. Every time you return to this practice, it becomes more automatic… your body remembers how good it feels to just let go. There is nothing more you need to do now.

If sleep comes, let it come naturally… and if not, this deep rest is already enough. If anything needs your attention, you will be fully present… but for right now, you can just drift away.

The gentle rain continues to fall steadily outside… keeping you safe and watching over you as you rest… feeling so incredibly warm… and so perfectly heavy.

Simply resting here… letting the sound of the rain carry you away… as you sink deeper and deeper into comfort.

So peaceful… and completely safe… surrounded by the soft warmth and the gentle rhythm of the night.
