Why does it help you sleep?
This visualization helps quiet an overactive mind by shifting your attention away from daily worries and onto soothing sensory details. By imagining thoughts as leaves floating away on the current, you practice letting go without fighting them, which reduces mental friction and frustration. The gentle, imagined rocking of the boat mimics the comforting feeling of being held, signaling to your body that you are completely safe. Finally, pairing this peaceful state with a simple hand gesture creates a physical anchor that can facilitate relaxation over time.
How to listen
Listen to this recording at a low volume when you are already in bed, lying in your favorite sleeping position. You can let yourself drift off whenever you feel ready, even if the journey is not yet finished.

Welcome to this peaceful time of rest. Our intention tonight is to gently quiet your mind for sleep, letting busy thoughts dissolve on a calm sailboat. As you settle into your bed, know that you remain entirely in control… you can adjust your position or open your eyes at any moment. If anything needs your attention, you will instantly be fully present. Right now, you can feel your body on the mattress… notice the soft pillow beneath your head… and perhaps you can already hear the gentle rhythm of the waves. Every sound of the water can carry you a little deeper into comfort.
Let us take a moment to breathe deeply together, filling your lungs with fresh air and exhaling any lingering tension from the day, taking all the time you need to settle in…
Take another slow, deep breath in, letting your chest rise effortlessly, and as you breathe out, feel yourself sinking a little deeper into the mattress beneath you…
Everyone knows that moment when the body simply wants to rest… when your eyelids become heavy, so heavy that it is just more comfortable to leave them gently closed. When you notice your breathing slowing down all by itself… you can just welcome that calm.
The more you listen to the waves, the more your mind settles into a peaceful rhythm. With every long, slow breath out that you take, you release a little more tension, allowing your heavy body to sink safely into the soft surface beneath you.
Let your imagination gently transport you to a quiet cove, where a sturdy sailboat is safely anchored in shallow water. You are resting comfortably on the deck, feeling the warm wood beneath your hands. The air carries a mild scent of the sea, and a breeze caresses your skin. You can feel the very subtle, soothing rocking of the boat… a motion remarkably like the comforting support of your mattress right now.
When familiar thoughts arrive, you can simply let them pass by. You can notice them, like small leaves drifting on the water, and just watch them float away on the gentle current, leaving behind a clear, quiet space.
To capture this peace, you might gently press your thumb and index finger together for a moment… connecting this feeling of being safely rocked with this simple gesture.
I wonder what you will notice first as you slowly step down into the cozy cabin of the sailboat… the pleasant warmth, or the feeling of being completely protected. It is a warm space, prepared for you to rest. Your body already knows how to drift down into comfort. Remember that each time you listen to this session, and each time you bring your thumb and index finger together, this deep calm will return to you faster.
Now, there is nothing left to do… nowhere else to be… just the comforting sound of the gentle waves.
If sleep comes, you can simply let it carry you away… and if not, this deep, peaceful rest is already wonderfully restoring for your mind and body…
You can feel completely safe in this peaceful space… sinking easily into the warmth of your bed, perfectly secure…
Resting deeply in the cozy cabin of your mind… allowing the night to wrap around you like a soft blanket, as the waves watch over you…
