Why do I wake up at 3am?

Who is this session for?

This session is for you if you find yourself awake in the middle of the night and want to return to rest peacefully. It is specifically designed to remove the frustration of nighttime awakenings by reminding you that resting quietly is already beneficial. You can listen to it right in your bed to smoothly transition back into a deep slumber.

How does it unfold?

  1. at the startInstallation and reassuranceThe voice helps you settle in and removes any pressure about being awake, guiding you through three slow breaths.
  2. around 1 minGentle breathing inductionYou are encouraged to let your breath find its natural rhythm, using the quiet sounds of the night to deepen your relaxation.
  3. around 2 minBody awareness sweepYour attention is guided quickly and smoothly across different parts of your body to occupy your mind without stimulating it.
  4. around 7 minOpposing sensationsYou will experience the feeling of extreme heaviness followed by weightlessness, creating a soothing contrast that encourages total release.
  5. around 8 minSafe descent and anchoringThe voice uses the calming image of a falling feather and introduces a simple finger gesture you can reuse to find peace on future nights.
  6. around 11 minFinal driftThe words slow down and fade into long pauses, gently accompanying you as you cross the threshold into sleep.

Why does it help you sleep?

This method helps you fall back asleep by giving your wandering mind a simple, continuous path to follow. The rapid body scan occupies your thoughts just enough to prevent nighttime worries from taking over. Meanwhile, the opposing sensations of heaviness and lightness create a gentle, calming confusion that lowers your mental guard. As your attention stays focused on these soothing physical cues, your body relaxes deeply and sleep returns naturally.

How to listen

Keep this recording ready at a low volume so you can easily start it without looking at a bright screen if you wake up. Lie in your most comfortable position, and remember that it is perfectly fine to drift off long before the session ends.

If anything needs your attention tonight, you will instantly be fully awake and present… but for right now, you are safe, and there is absolutely nothing you have to do. Everyone knows that sometimes the mind wakes up in the middle of the night… and that is perfectly okay. You do not need to look at the time… you do not need to figure anything out. It is good to just give yourself this time to rest… because simply resting here in the dark is already enough to rejuvenate you. Your body is well installed in your bed… feeling the comfortable support of the mattress beneath you as we prepare to take three slow, gentle breaths together…

Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose… letting the quiet air softly fill your chest and your belly…

And now gently exhale… releasing any tension and settling further into your warm, comfortable bed…

Take another deep breath in… welcoming the still peace of the nighttime into your entire resting body…

And breathe out slowly… sinking deeper into the mattress with absolutely nowhere else to be right now…

Take one more gentle breath in… feeling the quiet stillness of the room wrapping around you like a soft blanket…

And let it all go as you breathe out… allowing your entire body to surrender to the deep comfort of the night…

Your body already knows exactly how to drift back to sleep… so you can just let your breathing return to its own natural, easy rhythm. Any sound you might hear outside… or in the quiet of your house… simply helps you drift deeper into a state of peace. Your eyelids are likely already feeling heavy… resting comfortably over your eyes… and it becomes so pleasant to just keep them gently closed.

As you follow my voice through your body, you can notice how naturally your thoughts slow down… moving your attention from one part to the next without lingering. Just feel your right thumb… your index finger… your middle finger… your ring finger… and your pinky finger. Moving your awareness to the palm of your right hand… the wrist… the elbow… and the right shoulder. Drifting gently down your right side… the right hip… the right leg… the ankle… the right foot… and all the way to the toes.

Now shifting your awareness smoothly over to your left side… feeling the left thumb… the index finger… the middle finger… the ring finger… and the pinky finger. The palm of your left hand… your left wrist… the left elbow… and your left shoulder. Gliding softly down your left side… the left hip… your left leg… the ankle… the left foot… and all the toes on your left foot.

Now letting your attention rest on the entire back of your body… feeling all the points of contact between your back and the mattress… the back of your head… your shoulder blades… your spine… your heavy hips… and your resting heels. And now feeling the entire front of your body… bathed in a gentle, comforting stillness.

Notice the deep heaviness spreading through your muscles… as if you are sinking down into the soft support beneath you… getting heavier and heavier. The heavier your body feels, the lighter your mind becomes… as you now imagine a delicate feeling of lightness. Like a soft feather resting gently on velvet… feeling your limbs become almost weightless… completely free in the gentle dark of your room. And now… allowing yourself to feel both heavy and light at the very same time… anchored comfortably in your bed while your mind rests in a quiet space of deep peace.

Picture that soft feather slowly drifting down in the gentle, warm shadows of a peaceful room… swaying side to side… descending deeper and deeper… completely safe and effortless.

Whenever you wake up in the night, you can simply touch your thumb and index finger together to remind your body of this deep comfort… a small movement that signals your mind to rest…

Each time you listen to this practice, your body will remember how to drift back to sleep even faster… trusting that this simple gesture is your personal key to peace.

You can just… let go… and allow yourself to sink further into the comforting darkness of a peaceful night…

Drifting gently… resting completely… just letting the sleep wash over you in its own perfect, natural time…

Feeling entirely safe and comfortably heavy… letting go of everything… and simply slipping into a deep sleep…
