Releasing Evening Tension: Relaxation for Sleep
Let go of the physical tensions accumulated during the day with this soothing breathing exercise. By simply extending your exhales, your body naturally learns to release tightness and embrace a deep, peaceful rest.

Who is this session for?
This session is designed for anyone who carries the physical stress of a busy day into their bed. It is especially helpful when your muscles feel tight and you need a gentle way to transition from daily activities to a restful night. Listen to it when you are ready to let go of physical stiffness and quiet your racing mind.
How does it unfold?
- at the startOpening ritualThe voice guides you to settle into your mattress and take three slow breaths to begin the relaxation.
- around 1 minBreathing inductionYou are invited to observe your natural breathing and gently lengthen your exhales to invite a feeling of heaviness.
- around 3 minDeepeningA slow countdown from ten to one accompanies your exhales, doubling your sense of comfort with each number.
- around 5 minReleasing tensionYou will imagine any lingering tightness sliding down your body and flowing out peacefully through your fingertips and toes.
- around 9 minSafe descentThe imagery of a falling autumn leaf helps anchor this calm state, making it easier to relax in future nights.
- around 11 minDrifting to sleepThe voice gradually fades away into long pauses, allowing you to peacefully drift into a deep slumber.
Why does it help you sleep?
Extending your exhales is a natural way to signal to your body that it is safe to rest. By visualizing tension leaving through your hands and feet, you shift your attention away from stressful thoughts and directly into your physical sensations. This gentle focus helps your muscles unclench without any forced effort. As your body recognizes this physical release, your mind naturally follows, paving the way for a peaceful sleep.
How to listen
Listen to this recording at a low volume once you are comfortably lying in bed with the lights out. There is no need to stay awake until the end, as you are completely free to fall asleep whenever your body is ready.

Welcome to this time of rest. Everyone knows how good it feels to finally rest your head on the pillow… You are in a safe place, and there is absolutely nothing you need to achieve right now. You remain in control, and you can shift your position at any time to be more comfortable. Notice how the mattress gently supports your body… And to begin our evening ritual, take a slow, deep breath in through your nose, filling your chest, and let the air flow out gently, all the way to the end of your exhale…
Breathe in again, noticing the cool air entering your body, and exhale softly, allowing your shoulders to drop a little lower into the mattress beneath you…
Take one more deep, comforting breath, holding it for just a moment, and release it completely, letting your body settle deeply into the warmth of your bed…
Now, let your breathing find its own natural rhythm, just observing it as it is… When you notice your breathing slowing down all by itself… you can simply welcome it. And perhaps you can gently lengthen your exhale… letting it become just a little longer than your inhale… With every long exhale, your muscles can release a little more… You might already feel a gentle heaviness settling in… and that is perfectly fine. With every number I count, and every breath you exhale, you can sink a little deeper into comfort.
Ten… slowly breathing out, letting go of all the events of the day, allowing a wonderful sense of calm to settle in…
Nine… drifting further down into this soft, quiet space where your deep rest is fully protected…
Eight… feeling the gentle, comforting weight of your arms and legs resting peacefully on the mattress…
Seven… doubling this feeling of comfortable heaviness with every long breath you slowly exhale…
Six… and five… sinking deeper and deeper into the mattress, letting the soft support hold you completely…
Four… and three… absolutely nothing left to do but rest peacefully in this safe and welcoming room…
Two… and one… completely relaxed, entirely at ease, drifting comfortably toward a deep and restorative slumber…
If there is any remaining tension in your body, you can simply greet it like a passing guest… You can simply let it be. Your body already knows exactly how to release this tension… you have nothing to do but let it happen. The heavier your shoulders become… the lighter your mind feels. On your next long exhale, imagine any tight feeling in your muscles gently sliding down… flowing softly through your arms, and peacefully leaving through your fingertips…
And with another long breath out, let any lingering tightness in your back or legs slide all the way down, flowing out completely through your toes…
Notice the gentle contrast between the areas that have just released… and the areas that are already resting deeply. The stillness spreads… softening your jaw, your neck, your chest. Imagine a beautiful autumn leaf, gently detaching from a branch… You can just watch that leaf… drift down… and completely… let go… It floats gracefully through the quiet air until it rests softly on the ground. You are just as safe, just as gently supported. And every time you settle into this bed and take those three slow breaths, your body will remember this gentle path… it will know how to release its tensions quickly and easily. And now, you can simply let yourself drift… If sleep comes, let it come… and if you just rest in this deep calm, this quiet time counts just as much.
If anything ever needs your attention, you will instantly be fully present… but for now, you can just softly drift into the quietness of the room…
Drifting down… deeper and deeper into this peaceful night, letting your thoughts gently fade away into the soft darkness behind your eyelids…
The soothing music will continue to watch over you for a while, keeping this space safe and calm as you rest…
Peaceful… and resting… allowing the gentle waves of deep sleep to carry you softly into the night…
